 HYGGE

Hygge (pronounced hue-guh) is a Danish word and in its literal sense means becoming aware of a moment or feeling, experiencing comfort and joy or being mindful of whatever is in the moment.  There is much speculation as to the origins of the word Hygge, some believe it comes from an Old Norse word, hugr which has become the word Hug!

Modern Hygge is a mindset, especially embracing our cooler months by feeling the coziness, warmth, and comfort of our surroundings, clothing, and food.  Hygge invites us to enjoy the simpler things in life, to unplug and unwind by spending time alone or with beloved friends and family.

It's the feeling of joy and you have on a cold snowy day, hunkering down, snuggling in with a good book and a warm cup of tea or perhaps the feeling of waking early, feeling the dew on your feet and watching the sunrise.  Hygge is not a place or a thing it is a feeling of contentment and joy that fills you from the bottom of your feet to the crown of your head.

Although Hygge is a feeling it doesn't mean you can't give it a little nudge, below are my list of 10 things that will set the stage for that joyful and comfy place!
