The Garnet is the birthstone for January, the month of new. New beginnings as we move into the New Year and with the New Year new dreams, hopes, challenges, and desires. What a fitting month to be born the ultimate new. My son was born in January, the 11th to be exact and I can attest to the newest of it all.
January is symbolized by a really great, at least in my mind, birthstone the Garnet. Red Garnets are the most pedestrian of the Garnet but for those of you who aren't really into red, there are many more colors to choose from. This color choice comes in handy if you are looking for a mothers/grandmothers piece or jewelry you will have more colors available to arrange an aesthetically pleasing piece.
Garnets are a large group of minerals that range in color from the typical red to colorless, purple, yellow and green. Garnets can be found in all carat sizes, clarity quality, and price.
January is the perfect time to explore and benefit from the Garnets healing properties. Garnet is known as the purifier, cleansing your body, mind, and spirit. This stone is a must if you are seeking balance or protection. Ancient folklore says the Garnet was the "travelers stone" worn to keep one safe throughout their travels. Traveling soon? Wear your favorite Garnet jewelry!
Trivia buff or just want to learn more about your birthstone, The Farmers Almanac has some fun facts and folklore on the Garnet.

~ DonnaP.S Wondering how to clean your Garnet? Garnets are a fairly hard stone so wearing it daily isn't a problem.
